SX175 Skelly Silvia Skinz

This was a different project for us as we have never done a skinhead type 'skelly' Lambretta - until now.  Silvia chose to use a Series 3 instead of the usual Series 1 or 2 skinhead 'bike of choice' for a skelly.  After locating a decent enough SX125 in nearby Ravenna, work began in earnest to transform the scooter into the skelly styled bike she wanted.  Rather than follow the crowd and fit wooden or Plexiglas floorboards she worked with Marco to come up with the idea of extending the scooter's legshields and fit Vespa type runners that 'flow' around the ends.  70's Lancia colours were used for the paintwork and original accessories were sourced such as the KL backrest.  The engine was taken out to 175cc and the one-off outrigger exhaust was turned into a 42mm reverse cone set-up.  A lot of work went into the rear bars, backrest and carrier with everything finally slotting together nicely to avoid the use of clamps and bodged brackets which can sometimes be the case with (period correct?) skellies.  The scooter's 'look' had to be right but without the quality being neglected in any way whatsoever.  The outcome is what you see here.  Silvia is well chuffed and has now done some Italian rallies this year, picking up some silverware along the way.  Skinzzissimo...
