SX 150 Tony Tessier

Tony is certainly a man with a story to tell. In the 60's he worked for Arthur Francis, Supertune and even did a stint at Lambretta Concessonaires in Croydon. He had a few original 'S Types' in his time and a replica of one such machine he owned can be seen here. The scooter we have built for him is a copy of the one he used to compete on as part of the 'British Lambretta Concessonaires Team' that partook in the Italian 'Moto Giro D'Italia' race in 1968. We were commissioned to build the scooter to be ready for the 2009 'Giro D'Italia' race and had a deadline to meet that meant that we had just 3 weeks to turn a rusty old SX150 into a race worthy machine. We finished the scooter in the nick of time and delivered it to the hotel in Bologna where Tony was staying with all the others due to compete in the race. To say he was pleased with the scooter was an understatement although the proof of the pudding was if the freshly restored scooter was up for what the next weeks racing had in store for it. Despite some initial negative comments from the 'dyed in the wool' bikers present, the Lambretta soon proved them all wrong and after just the first days racing, said bikers soon learnt to keep schtum as this was a scooter to be reckoned with. Come the end of the race, Tony was the one smiling as he came second in his class and the Lambretta had performed faultlessly for the entire duration of the arduous race (a lot of motorcycles had broken down or withdrawn!)
