LI 150 Series 1 sidecar 'Afternoon Delight' Nev Cope

The scooter was a bit rough in appearance but proved to be a sound basis for the project. It's a 'crossover' LI model as the rear of the frame has the usual 'Framebreather' slots but it had the hole and fittings for an airbox. The frame was modified around the main engine bolt and generally all the welds were reinforced throughout with the addition of a Series 3 battery tray welded on. Nev chose the colours and although initially we were a bit apprehrensive about the choice, he was right and they look the part. Polished stainless fasterners were fitted throughout and it took a while to find 3 'Innocenti' stamped wheel rims that were both straight and good enough to have chromed. Nev has more accessories than anyone we know and several of these were fitted. Nev found the side in Southern England and had it transported down to us. It looked okay but upon stripping it down, we discovered it had quite a bit of damage and had previously been attached to a Maico scooter combo built by a member of the VMSC. The top gel coat was completely ruined and the fibreglass cracked in several places - much to the delight of the chaps at the paintshop! The sidecar chassis was completely overhauled as was the suspension unit which was then fitted with one of our RLC Lambretta hub conversions. A set of RLC stainless crashbars and rear carrier were also fitted.
