SX200 Massimo Sapienza

This scooter caused something of a stir when it was uncovered by Max. There had been rumours about some SX200's leaving the Innocenti factory in yellow ochre (a colour normally seen / used on the successive GP200 models) but no-one had one to bandy about. Max found the scooter in his native Sicily and quickly snapped it up. It was partially dissmantled and the previous owner had stated to rub it down in places for an eventual respray!!! Max then started to rebuild it but in the end decided that it was better that we at RLC looked at the show to sort it out. The battery had exploded some years ago and subsequently eliminated all the paint in the surrounding areas and the floorwell was rust-alotti. And that was only the start of it..... Oh dear. We totally stripped the scooter down, removed all the filler in one of the sidepanels and front mudguard, treated the ruasted areas, re-zinced & blackened all the actual fasteners from the scooter, 'blew over' in cellulose only the areas on the scooter that needed attention and then rebuilt the whole show with as many NOS Innocenti parts as we could possibly fit. The engine was totally stripped and given the same treatment with only Innocenti parts being used. Even the front and rear shockers were originals that we had stripped and rebuilt. All the fasteners are bang on with the correct forged numbers and the original ox blood seat tops the scooter off a treat. This is a REALLY rare piece of scootering history and a near unique testimony to Innocenti producing a scooter in a previously largely unseen colour. Rarer than a rare thing and Max is one very lucky chappie indeed.
