In the late 70's 'Lambretta Spa', the Italian Lambretta Importers for both SIL and Serveta machines presented their scooters at the Bologna 'Motorshow' exhibition event. This was the main 'showcase' event for all the motorcycle & scooter importers / manufacturers and Lambretta were present with various scooters, including this GP150. It was re-badged as a '125' for the event to satisfy the market that it was going to be aimed at (i.e. learner riders) and the aesthetics (some areas of the paintwork) were "tidied up" a bit compared to the other run-of-the-mill machines the importers sold. A unique '125' badge was fitted to the legshields and the machine was shown as you see it here - as this is the very scooter that the importers used to showcase the Lambretta brand.
This scooter is now 38 years old, has remained unregistered and has just 17kms (11 miles!!!) on the clock, so basically this is a brand-new Lambretta, or as close as you're going to get in 2018. Okay there are marks from being moved around and generally unloved, BUT this is an important piece of Italian scootering history.
This amazing machine is from the first batches of Indian made machines so everything fits perfectly and its no surprise as most of the components used were part of the Italian stock sent over by Innocenti. The scooter has lots of nice touches. Theres are both sets of keys and then there's the mad indicators which whilst might not be to everyones taste, there's no denying that they certain add something to the scooter. We have seen a lot of Indian made scooters over the years and very few of them come vaguely close to this for being so well made or having such nice fitting bodywork or absolutely amazing history.
