This is a VERY early production SIL 150cc engine casing from 1978. This is something we'd put away to use for a future project but it will probably never see the light of day. As such it's now part of the current clear-out of used parts we're having at the shop. This is one of the very first Indian made engine casings produced by SIL and it really is PERFECT. This was taken from the scooter that was the last machine used by Italian accessories company Vigano for their yearly calendar depicting 'tarts and accessories'. Very nice indeed. The casing 'as new' and is one of type with an over-large gasket face area which makes it perfect if you're aiming to build a tuned engine and fitting a kit. There's lots of 'meat' to port out. All the usual suspect 'problem areas' of Lambretta casings (such as the gearbox endplate stud castings, the flywheel side trasfer port casting, the engine munting lugs, the underside ribbing, the small round tailpipe stud castings etc.) are all PERFECT.
The transfers have been 'cleaned up' but seemingly not opened up all (see the pic). We even had the three gasket faces lightly machined to ensure everything is gas / oil tight. If you're in the market for a small-block casing, then there's little point buying a new one which you know will be a right dogs dinner and will be poorly made.
This on the other hand is the absolute business, checked by us at RLC, with skimmed gasket faces and also acid dipped to make it gleam! What more do you want?
