Scooter Model ; Lambretta SX200

Name ; ‘Three’s a crowd’

Owner ; Dean

Location ; The shop

Scooter Details ; This combo was featured in ‘Scootering’ a few years ago but has since undergone a complete overhaul. No real reason other than near daily use and abuse meant it started to look a bit dog eared. The scooter started out as a bare frame and little else that came from Florence and then was built up using nearly all NOS body parts. The frame was strenghtened thoughout and an extra lug added to the engine bolt cross member. An early Taffy shock has been fitted from the offset and has proved faultless. Other details are ; original metal ‘Nannucci’ inside legshiled toolbox, various original plaques and badges collected over the years, modified Ulma Florida bars, bubble screen with ‘RLC’ stainless brackets, ‘RLC’ rear brake pedal to clear the sidecar frame clamp, French ‘Ardor’ rear carrier ( which meant the Ancillotti seat had to be modified and now looks shite – so that’s due for a change), TV1 fork links.

Engine ; Ralph Saxelby tuned 225 barrel, ‘MB’ 70mm piston, LI125 gearing with 17 x 46T sprockets, uprated 5 plate clutch, electronic igntion, 42mm ‘RS’ Clubman box, SH2/2 24mm Dell’Orto carb ( it’s the same as a 22mm Dell’Orto but is 24mm, from an Italian motorsickle), ‘RLC’ solid Ser.3 engine mounts, modified airbox.

Sidecar Details ; The side originally came from Charnwood and  a ‘RLC’ Lambretta hub conversion has been fitted. Recent additions are handmade wood armrests and dash. A set of our ‘RLC’ stainless steel crashbars and a rear rack have also been fitted.

Overall Cost ; GBP £ 10,000+ over a five year period and rapidly losing count….
