Name , ‘Il Trespolo’ Owner ; The shop Town / Country ; In them thar ‘ills above Rimini… Engine ; Built around an old 200 casing from the local scrapppers that was perfect except for one small thing….some twat had smacked the engine mounts off to get it out of the frame. The casing was jigged, and then had new mounts rewelded on and totally reinforced ( by the people who make the Ducati Grand Prix frames no less). There is now more chance of the frame snapping in two before this engine snaps a mount ( we’ve had it a metre off the ground jumping the local river). LI125 gearbox, electronic ignition - so it starts even after it’s ended up upside down in the river, some old 225 Asso piston relieved from the bin with more scores than a season with Juventus, bored to the limits ‘Innocenti’ barrel, 20mm carb, std. box, 4 plate clutch. How high spec. can you get? Despite the parts bin technology, the bastard thing will not blow up…..yet. Paintwork ; done once a season to cover the rust…. Scooter Details ; Before Dean’s SX2 & side was finished it was deemed a good idea for all and sundry to get used to riding a sidecar outfit so this was built up. It looks shite but it was all jigged and set up perfectly. The basis was an un-sellable LI that had a twin brake set up sorted so there was a minimal chance of it stopping. Sidecar details ; Bits of tube we had kicking around, a tractor seat courtesy of the Bepster and several cases of ‘Limoncino’ to aid in the overall rebuild. This peach is a good laugh to ride and anyone coming over for a visit is welcome to have a go. It’ll go up walls and wheelie on one wheel but at your own risk. The likelyhood of personal damage is about 9 / 10 but you’ll enjoy yourself as you hear your ribs break. Just ask Nick Tolley…. Cost ; about £ 2.50 |
